Limera1n is Finally Here!

Posted by 1 on

About 2 weeks ago, I decided it was time to use my upgrade and grab an iPhone 4.  Immediately I fell in love.  It is a great phone, very peppy, facetime is awesome, and the camera quality is amazing.  I love having a flash light as well (very helpful sneaking down the hall at midnight).  That is the good.

Now time for the bad: I was not able to jailbreak because it came with iOS 4.1.  I did not realize how handy jailbreaking was for about the first year of my 'iPhone experience'.  Once I decided to Jailbreak, I immediately saw the added benefit.  There are many handy applications found in Cydia that Apple will not allow into the App Store.  In my next post, I will outline my top 5 jailbroken Apps.

Yesterday, I was informed of Geohot's new Jailbreak for the iPhone 4 running iOS 4.1.  It is called Limera1n. Very similar to Blackra1n. Limera1n is an iPhone 4/iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G/iPod touch 3G, and iPad jailbreak.  Make sure that you have one of these devices or you will need to check out redsn0w (make sure and follow the instructions perfectly).

Limera1n is currently only available for the Window's operating system, with a mac version on the way. Once it was installed, I was not having any luck with the jailbreak.  After some research, I realized I did not have the most current version of iTunes installed on the pc.  Once I updated the iTunes, it was very simple.  Once you click 'make it rain', you have to follow a few steps and within a few minutes, you are now Jailbroken.

Let us know if you have any questions about Jailbreaking.  Once you get the hang of it, it makes the iPhone much more enjoyable.  Head over to our iPhone Repair page for information to help fix your broken iPhone.
