Google has done a fantastic job with Android OS. The feature set is broad and the limitations are few. If you dont like the way Android's native SMS looks, you can install Handcent and completely overhaul the way text messages are displayed.
That being said, the Android Marketplace is lacking. It is cumbersome to navigate and the apps seem to get lost amongst the 80,000+ apps.
Appbrain offers an excellent alternative to the Native Marketplace. Their website is also a great resource that organizes apps by popularity, category, price, and reviews. It also simplifies updating your apps.
It is quick and easy to download/install (use the image to the left to go directly to the downloads page) and immediately you can get started downloading apps. Just go to the marketplace on your android phone and search for 'appbrain'.
